Someone with a level of experience and awareness

What makes a good leader?

Looking at the leaders of our world it is easy to see how NOT to do it. We have got some great examples of leadership that come from a lot of ego and the need to overpower others even though it is completely unnecessary. I can’t even think of anyone I would like to be “led” by and in whose vision is in alignment with mine.

In my belief a good leader is somebody who is grounded, transparent, open, good at communication, reliable, trustworthy, observing, confident, able to take responsibility but also has empathy and emotional intelligence. Someone who is not afraid of challenges and doesn’t make decisions based on personal, emotional triggers. It has to be someone who listens well and uses the qualities of the people around them to make decisions in consideration to what serves the best for everyone. They should have a certain level of experience and awareness. But they should also inspire others to learn and grow so in turn they can become leaders themselves.

A good leader without a good team doesn’t exist, so it is about creating together in a space of equality.
