Some problems are too absurd not to laugh at.

Do you know that feeling when life suddenly throws something into your lap completely out of nowhere?

Sometimes it feels light. Sometimes it feels like you’re carrying a giant rock on your shoulders. Our emotions are such a rich and colorful world, yet life also introduces us to its darker shades from time to time.

Here’s a little story from my own life.

Last month, I received a fine on the bus because my ticket wasn’t activated. The funny thing is… I had bought the ticket, but I genuinely didn’t know it needed to be activated separately. Oops. 😅

The ticket inspector was cold and distant, not really open to a conversation or willing to see that I wasn’t trying to let my son ride without paying.

The fine arrived. I appealed it. The appeal was rejected because, according to them, I should have read the rules more carefully.

There was no point in arguing further, so I decided to pay it in installments, just as they had suggested in their letter. But when I contacted them, I was told this wasn’t possible because the amount was too high (€127) and that debt collectors would take over the case instead.

To be honest, financially this isn’t the easiest period of my life. So yes… that letter hit a nerve. 😅

The first time, the fine triggered a lot of emotions: injustice, not being heard, feeling punished, feeling small… and a whole lot of anger.

But it’s the second part of the story that I really want to share.

When I read the letter, I first felt that familiar wave of frustration.

Then I paused.

And suddenly, something shifted.

The whole situation turned into an absurd theater play in my mind. Everyone was speaking complete nonsense in little Smurf voices. The words were all mixed up, nobody seemed to know what they were talking about, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

A full Smurf show in my third eye, and I didn’t even need a television. 😂

And then I heard:

✨ Laughter is alchemy. ✨

Some things that happen in our world are simply too absurd for words.

Sometimes, instead of getting pulled deeper into a story, we can take a step back and laugh. Not because our feelings aren’t valid, but because laughter changes something inside of us. It softens the grip of the story. It opens a new perspective.

That doesn’t mean we ignore what hurts.

It means we refuse to let it own us.

So the next time life throws something ridiculous your way, pause for a moment. Step outside the story. Look at it from another angle.

You might discover that some things are simply too absurd not to laugh at.

And as for my fine…

I’m currently asking the Universe to magically relocate it to another dimension where a team of goblins and dragons can set it on fire. 🔥😂

Until then, I’ll keep laughing.

And I hope you’ll laugh with me.
