We have been dealing with extreme heat this week and air so thick it feels like I’m trying to sleep in a sauna. I have been sizzling like butter in a hot pan while doing my best to stay regulated.
The temperatures where I live are simply not normal, yet we all have to meet what life presents us with in the way that works best for us.
One thing that came up for me today is how easy it is to get lost in trying to find a way to be happy.
Do you know that feeling of knowing you’re meant for something bigger, yet life can feel so ordinary? Searching for that one thing that will finally bring you joy?
How do we reconnect with our inner child and rediscover the wonder of life?
While I was meditating, it became clear to me that the pursuit of happiness can become a distraction from truly experiencing life. Happiness isn’t a destination.
Happiness is the journey itself.
As we walk our path, we meet people, receive unexpected gifts, learn new skills, teach others what we know, grow, expand, create, stumble, get back up, hug, cry, laugh…
What if happiness isn’t a goal to reach, but the experience of living fully?
Being focused on the future, longing for someone or something, or holding tightly to an outcome pulls us away from what truly matters: the present. Because that is where the magic begins.
What if happiness is simply found in this moment?
Not looking back. Not reaching ahead. Just fully embracing the small, ordinary moment right where you are. Where your feet are planted—that is where delight quietly lives.
So despite the heat and my thoroughly cooked brain, I’m choosing to focus on now.
I’m happy to be here, lying on my couch, sweating bullets, knowing that I’m exactly where I need to be—creating magic while slowly melting into a puddle.
Stay hydrated, my friends.
You’re creating magic simply by being here, reading these words.
Much love,
Dana
P.S. This watercolor painting features Sera, a being from the elemental realm. She works closely with the spirit of mushrooms, gently helping people reconnect with their own inner magic, authentic essence, and the quiet wisdom that already lives within them.
